Property Registration

hief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for decades, the registry process has been complex, time-consuming, and plagued by corruption. People had to make multiple visits to sub-registrar offices. With the implementation of EasyRegistry, property registration in Punjab will now be fast, transparent, and hassle-free. This is the first time in the country that a state has implemented this process completely digitally. The Chief Minister called it a historic milestone in administrative reforms.

How will the method of registration change now?

Now, the registration of any property in any district can be done at the Sub-Registrar's office. Sale deeds can be prepared online or through a service center for a nominal fee of just ₹500. Documents can be submitted online within 48 hours. Any unnecessary objections will be sent directly to the Deputy Commissioner, who will determine whether the objection is valid.

What provisions were made to stop corruption?

Citizens will receive live updates on WhatsApp at every stage. If an employee demands a bribe, a complaint can be lodged through the same chat. Tehsildars will no longer be able to raise objections on their own, as a 48-hour deadline has been imposed. The Chief Minister said that complaints will be directly monitored by the district administration.

What new technical facilities will be available?

Under the "Draft My Deed" service center, people will be able to draft their own documents. There will be no need to provide separate proof of transaction from the bank. Upon completion of the registry, a confirmation message will be sent via WhatsApp, allowing people to collect the sale deed in a single visit. An upgraded sub-registrar office in Mohali has been launched with a help desk and a comfortable waiting area.

Which helpline was started for relief?

Under the "Sarkar Tuhade Dwar" scheme, people can seek assistance by calling 1076. All services, from document preparation to final approval, will be available online. The state government is working to further streamline the service centers. Now, citizens will no longer have to make unnecessary trips to government offices for registry work.

What is the main benefit to the public from this?

This system will save both time and money. People will be free from long queues, delays, and unnecessary hassle. The Chief Minister said that this reform will establish transparency in the state and provide citizens with "office-free" access. It was described as Punjab's most citizen-centric administrative revolution.

Why is it being considered the first time in the country?

Bhagwant Singh Mann claimed that for the first time in India, a state has taken steps to simplify and digitize the registry process so much. Now, citizens can initiate a registry with just a phone call. The government clarified that such improvements will continue in the future to ensure faster and hassle-free service for the public.
